Storm Dance Alliance Competitive Poms will be entering its sixth season in 2016-2017. In their six short years, the Poms team has accomplished so much! They have been a consistent competitor on the regional platform through competitions through the Universal Dance Association and Champion Spirit Group.

This past year under the direction of Director and Coach Taylor Murphy and Coach Heather Hansen, this team has achieved many accomplishments. One of which includes qualifying and competing at the National Dance Team Championship for the second time in two years in Orlando, Florida!

Making the Team - 2017

Dancers will receive an email letting them know the results of auditions within 1 week following the audition date.

While there will be lots of group training through out the year, dancers who are selected for the team will be placed into a division based on their age, experience and ability level. The division is the group that your dancer will be dancing their competitive pieces with for the remainder of the year. All dancers will compete in a pom and jazz dance.

After acceptance into the program, each member regardless of division will:

  • Participate in a once a week 1.5 hour stretch and technique class from auditions until intensives beginning in May
  • Participate in a 3 day intensives to determine dancer division for competitive pieces
  • Attend a 4 day, 3 night overnight dance camp
  • A variety of classes which include:
    • Ballet
    • Stretch and Tech
    • Rehearsal time
    • Conditioning
    • Turn, Leaps and Tricks class
    • Hip Hop Class
    • Lyrical Class
    • Jazz Class
  • Compete in several regional competitions
  • Participate in local appearances and performances
  • Have fun!

Please note that should your dancer be selected for our most advance teams, there may be a possibility of attending the National Dance Team Championship in Orlando, Florida.

Super Stars & Tiny Stars POMS Teams

Super Stars (mini poms) team will be for our dancers ages 6-9. This means they can be 9 years old entering our next competition season and still be a part of the Super Stars team. The aim of the Super Stars Team is to prepare our dancers to take the next step towards our competitive poms team. Our Super Stars will dance 2 times per week for 1 hour. This team will be competing TWO dances next season. Their classes will include:

  • 30 minute Ballet class
  • 30 minute Stretch and Tech class
  • 30 minute Jazz Rehearsal
  • 30 minute Pom Rehearsal

By breaking our classes into smaller increments, we feel our dancers will stay more focused on each distinct style, with a clear set of expectations.

Our Super Stars will attend a 2 day mini intensive, mini pom camp and 2 local competitions!

Tiny Stars team is for dancers from age 3-6. This is for our little dancers getting ready to gear up for the competitive dance world. Tiny stars will dance 2 times per week, for an hour. Their classes will include:

  • 30 minute Ballet class
  • 30 minute Stretch and Tech class
  • 30 minute Pom Rehearsal 2x per week

Breaking these classes into smaller increments will keep our dancers focused with clear tasks at hand. Adding rehearsals two times a week will help reinforce choreography and tighten up their skills even more!

Tiny Stars will attend 1 choreography camp, mini pom camp and 2 local competitions!

Both of our Super Stars and Tiny Poms season will run through the fall session.  No audition required!

Thank you for all who attended Mini Pom Camp 2016.  We had a blast!
