Our Mission:

To provide a prestigious and cutting edge dance education in a positive yet challenging environment. Storm Dance Alliance promotes excellent values, family involvement and encourages all dancers to seek a healthy well-rounded lifestyle.

Our Story:

Storm Dance Alliance was started in 2004 by Brook and Tim Langkan...

5 Reasons Why Storm Dance Alliance should be Your Studio:

1. Smaller Class Sizes: Our smaller class sizes allow students to get more individual instruction from teachers, and as a result progress at a faster level than in a large class environment. Our smaller class sizes also ensure that the teacher can catch any problems before they turn into bad habits or improper techniques.

2. Variety of Dance Styles & Methods: Highly qualified teachers with varied training and teaching methods are available to teach a broad range of dance formats.

3. Our Dance Studio Advantage: The "Floating" Professional Dance Floor Our "Floating" Dance Floor rests on a system of high density foam to absorb the shock and impact of regular dance movement. This benefits students by reducing fatigue and preventing injury that can result from dancing on hard surfaces. The top layer of our flooring surface is a professional vinyl composite "marley" floor similar to the surfaces used by the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, the Royal Academy of Dancing in London, England and shows such as Riverdance. This marley floor surface has a certain amount of controlled slip to allow for sliding in dance movement, but is not slippery like common tiles found in most other dance studios.

4. Kindergarten Dance - for ages 3-5: From the age of 3, children are given a fun introduction to the basics of dance. This program provides a solid foundation for future success in Ballet, Jazz, Tap and other styles.

5. Recitals, The Nutcracker, and Competitions: Students are given performance experience in our year-end recital. Students also have the option to participate in festivals, competitions and The Nutcracker.

Our Policies & Procedures:

Registration: All students are assessed an annual membership fee of $20.00 per student, or $30.00 per family.

Recital: Costume Fees are $65.00 per Costume, per child (One Costume Per Class). In addition to costume fees, there is a 20.00 per student Recital Fee. Fee is for Trophy, etc. Tickets are not included, and will be purchased separately from Oswego East.

Repeated failure to wear required dancewear could result in termination of lessons. Students are not permitted to wear jeans or shoes worn on the street or outdoors, to any dance class. For safety reasons dancers are not permitted to wear jewelry. Long hair must be tied back. A Full Dress Code Sheet may be picked up at the front desk.

Missed Private Music Lessons and Make-up Lessons: Absolutely no make-up lessons will be given for music lessons unless absence is due to serious illness and 24 hour notice has been given to the school office. Make-up lessons for dance classes will be limited to 2 per teaching session, and must be used within that session. . No refunds are given for missed lessons.

Dance Class Attendance and Lateness: The school reserves the right to have students who come late to class, sit out the class. Repeated lateness may result in termination of lessons. A minimum attendance level will be required. If a student misses more than 4 classes without written notices, the school reserves the right to terminate lessons. Students missing more than 4 classes after January will not be allowed to participate in the year-end dance recital, festivals or competitions.

Parent’s Responsibility to be Aware of Dates and Events: It is the responsibility of the parent or adult student to be aware of all school activities, such as viewing days, recitals, extra classes, and dates the school is open or closed. The school will post all such notices on the “What’s New” board or the bulletin board as well as sending notices and emails home with the students. It is the parent’s responsibility to regularly check these boards to ensure they are informed. It is the responsibility of the parents or adult students to inform the school of any address or telephone number or email change.

Care of Students: The school is not responsible for providing before or after class care for students. Parents with students under the age of 5 are to remain in the school during classes. Students are not to be left at the school for excessive time before or after class.

Injuries: Parents, legal guardians of minor students and adult students waive the right to any legal action for any injury sustained on school property resulting from normal dance activity or any other activity conducted by the students before, during or after class time.

Photo Release: The school is hereby granted permission to take photographs of the students to use in brochures, web sites, posters, advertisements and other promotional materials the school creates. Permission is also hereby granted for the school to copyright such photographs in its name.
